I have a group that I moderate on MT. I don't really have the time, desire, or energy to moderate it anymore. I'm tired of people who don't understand that I have full time school, a part time job, and a part time internship to deal with in my last semester of college. I'm tired of people whining that I won't let them take over my community for me, especially when I don't even know them, and leaving messages all over my guestbook about it. Then, to top it all off, the wahmbulance sounds and there are message in the group pages about how "so and so is leaving because someone (meaning me, by the way) doesn't want them there". Is there any way I can delete a community? I'm tired of the drama. Thanks!

f

Okay, so I'm still really, really busy with school and work, and I hadn't even done anything with this community since I was made a moderator, but at least I made a member list update.

If there's anything else you guys 'n' gals need, send me a PM about it! I'm not on MT very often, so it might take me a while to get back to your request, but I'll get to it eventually.

f

Apply quality standards to it, and it should be fine. I still dislike abstract art. Ditch the renders, they don't belong. Transport the original works that meet the quality standards to doujinshi. Or just institute some quality rules if you opt not to delete it. I could do without the category. It doesn't do anything for me, and a lot of what I see there doesn't meet my definition of "abstract".

A girl standing in the rain is not abstract. A vectored character with some abstract shapes does not abstract art make. While chubbykitty and irix both have very nice pieces, I don't feel they belong in the abstract section.

However, if the next Jackson Pollock stumbles onto MT, I might rethink my position. Wake me up when s/he does.

The filler wasn't bad. It could be worse. There were no Naruto characters dressed as hippies, and some of the genuine plot was tied into the fillers. It's dragging on more than a bit, but it'll be over soon. The manga (where the fillers don't continue) is good, so I don't see how the anime can be bad, unless they totally butcher it. Filler is just that, filler. I don't think anyone should really have expectations of it. If you don't like it, don't watch it. I don't watch Bleach filler, but I'll pick it up again when the filler's over. I don't think it's made the series suck, and I don't think that the Naruto filler has made it suck either.

f

I don't know if I said this before, but if I have, I'll say it again. Please do not request to be a moderator, especially if I don't know you and have never spoken with you before. I am a full time college student, and I do have a job on top of that. I update this group at least once a month, possibly more often to add members. And while I may not be as active as I once was due to time constraints, I am still here and I am still running this community. School, work and other commitments have driven me to take a more backstage approach to moderating. But never fear, I am still here and this group is not going anywhere.

However, the offers for help running the group are not as appreciated as they would seem, especially when they are sent to not only my guestbook, but my email. Please bear this in mind if the thought to offer help crosses your mind when I do not know you and have never spoken with you.

All the links have been updated and are working now. If you have a site you want to be added to the list, email me about it. :)

On a side note, one of my favorite series Not/Love was just licensed by Drama Queen. It's one of the few manga I own in raw format, so I must really like it. I'm so excited about it, and everyone has to go buy it if they're in the US when it's released. Trust me, it's worth it!

Quote by TSPhoenixNo matter how hard Nintendo try, some people will NEVER buy it because of the name, but those are the same type of people who wouldn't but a Nintendo product for the fear of being uncool anyway and the Wii name might rope in a few new customers, so Nintendo doesn't really lose anything do they?

I guess I stopped caring about cool and uncool long ago. I just want to play good games, but I'll still never say 'I'm going to go play with my wii'. I only bought a gamecube so I could play Eternal Darkness. GBA sucks. I don't have one. I have borrowed one to indulge my MarioKart addiction, but that's about it. I didn't even touch that other portable thing they came out with. The DS. I don't know what's going on there, but the games they had for it weren't anything I was interested in playing.

Make games I want to play for a console and I'll buy it. I have no interest in sports games or GTA-style games. Make some good, solid RPGs for a handheld that don't look like crap and don't play like crap, and I'll buy it, plain and simple.

Nintendo hasn't managed to do that. They've released all of one game that I wanted to play enough to get a console. And I got the console used, so they didn't get any money from it anyway. And for $30. But, well, I did enjoy playing the Resident Evil games on it. The later ones that weren't released on PS2.

Still, with all my consoles, Playstation is still the way to go for me. I've bought one of everything they've released (PS, PS2, PSP) and I"ll buy a PS3 when it comes out, or shortly after, depending on the games that have been released when the console comes out. Nintendo doesn't inspire that kind of loyalty from me, and I'm 99% sure they never will.

f

I haven't bought anything nintendo's made since the gamecube. Then again, I bought a PSP and all I do is watch movies on it because the games are crap. Maybe I just didn't want to make the same mistake again.

I don't know how I feel about owning something called a 'Wii', but it did look pretty awesome from the article I read a while back. I don't care of they call it revolution or not, but I don't think that's the right name choice. But... I guess the point is that if it's good, I'll buy it. Though I am leaning more toward a PS3 when it comes out (even at what I know they'll be asking for it, because they'll be taking a major loss even at that price).

A lot of people support the idea of fall, well i dont have any problem if is on late summer or fall, about the groups, maybe you can pick 6 or 8 wallers that have some leadership or you think they can be good leaders and make them start recruiting people.

Also i suggest to make a group like "battlegrounds" on AP, to have some control on the latest news, groups and that stuff

Summer is better, there's no school. Fall? Not so good, especially for students. Just my two cents there.

I'd probably be better at recruiting than at walling. That amuses me for whatever reason. Still, it sounds fun, even without a chance at winning anything. I just like making stuff, but I seem to need some sort of motivation lately. I think I'm outgrowing teh internets. :x

Personally, I think it can go either way depending on how the movie is done. Jisatsu Circle was great, and that was based on a comic. I heard V for Vendetta was brilliant, but I still haven't seen it. I've seen the trailer for the Death Note movie, and that looks like it'll be great too, even if MIsa wasn't quite what I expected. I'll have to wait for it to actually be released to know for sure.

Silent Hill was about 30-50% crap though. Resident Evil was about the same, but it did get much better with RE: Apocalypse.

I say yay if they're well done and nay if they're crap. But doesn't everybody? No matter what, though, it gets people to read them. Since V for Vendetta came out, sales of the comic have gone through the roof (I work in a bookstore). It's just kind of... good for business.

Quote by kuroimisaHehe well Misa critique services yo =_=V Sorry I was feeling a bit lame :P Before I go on about the work, I noticed your username as syringe backwards... you don't happen to also love egnirys cimredopyh by Dir en grey, do you? :3

Yes, I do, and yes, that's where it's from. :3 Did you know they just had their first official US release? I have two copies of Withering to Death, but I've never been happier for them. Anyway...

Quote by kuroimisa(insert lots of useful tips here that I don't really need to quote because they're right up there)

I'm still experimenting with the brushes. I found some good ones and have been playing around with the eraser tool. Obviously this is still under vast stages of construction because it still looks really unfinished to me. I r grunge newb (and not really ashamed of it).

I'll have to try mixing some purple and brown in with it. I'm toying with color burn because I really like the way it looks with the grunge effects. I'm working for a balance now. I don't want the left side to be completely barren, but I don't want any of it to be overly concentrated in one area either. That just doesn't seem balanced to me at all. Still working on finding a happy medium there.

Still looking for good grunge brushes. Everything I've found has those square corners, but that background is just a playing around to get the feel of the brushes deal. It's not permanent, but progress is progress, for better or worse. Thanks for the links, I'll have to check those out too.

I've got some brushes that I used for a layout once (if I can find them) that made a great scratchy background. Sadly, I don't still have the image. I guess I decided to clean my hard drive off (which happens once in a blue moon). Splodge splodge splodge. (I think I like that word... it's a good word.)

I haven't gotten anywhere near the text stage yet. Not sure what it should say yet either, which is always a hindrance there. I'll know when the wall gets closer to completion. It's still in baby stages. :3

Well... I've read the submission policy, and I'm not sure if it's always been that way or if it's just not retroactive. I've got some brushwhore walls in my gallery, and more than a few are in the 1337 gallery, so I'm not sure there. If it gets removed, it gets removed. No biggie. :) I'll just know what not to do next time.

I don't think I've put anything on top of the scan, I just have her set at a funky opacity because I was playing with layers last night. There are two or three layers of Misa in the PSD.

You're not wrong, I don't like the squares either. I'll just have to find a way around it because I really like some of the brushes, just not the square bits. -_-

And you know, that fluro-green sounds like an interesting idea. Red and green are opposite in the color spectrum, so maybe I'll play around with that again. Thanks for all the tips, I'll definitely up another version when I've played with it more.

But at least I'm getting somewhere with this. :3 Yay for the sandbox, or I'd be resorting to posting in progress versions on MT like I used to, then getting opinions from people on my flist. But this is much, much easier than submitting and editing the submissions all the time.

*goes back to work on Misa* :3 Thanks so much!

f

I don't know if there are links or not, but I'll scan thepage from the artbook. Hopefully that will help, so I'll post when I have time to scan it. Thanks. :) This can be closed now.

f

Do you mean an image for a background with a smaller image in the corner? I've made icons like that. All you need to do is get the frames you want to use for the animation, make the stills in a graphics editor and then put them together in an animated gif program. I always use JASC Animation shop, but you might find something that works better for you.

f

So... it's only for the people on that list? Huh. Not that I'd have a chance, but I still think it'd be fun.

Quote by leonardobarbaGive GIMP a try... it's free.

GIMP is good for some things, but it's not a replacement for Photoshop. Never has been, never will be. It's not as user friendly (though Photoshop does require some experimenting and knowledge to use it to your advantage).

And, um, if you could read, they didn't ask about GIMP. They asked about Photoshop. I don't see the point in trying to sway them otherwise, it'll probably just be a waste of time. I make much better work in Photoshop than I ever did in GIMP anyway.

f

I was reading in CLAMP Kiseki the other night that they used color tones for Tokyo Babylon. This is apparently expensive and tedious, but produces nice works. Or that could just be CLAMP's level of talent. They also said they could do it at the time Tokyo Babylon was released because they didn't have a cat (meaning cat fur would stick to the color tones while they were being applied to the drawings).

Quote by pamelahoOr you can always ask a friend who has PS and send it to you ^^"

^^: Ever heard of piracy being illegal? Yeah, so that's what that is. I wouldn't suggest it, and the original poster of the thread was clearly trying to avoid such suggestions by asking where to purchase the software, and a suitable suggestion was made. I think this might be the time to close this thread. ^^;

f

Just so you know if you do purchase the academic version, you can't use it if you're going to sell your work. There's a digital marking in everything you make that says it's from an academic version. That makes it illegal to sell any work created with that version of the software. Just, you know, for future reference. :)

Quote by wert668wow this quota is really *** I like the way year ago. I have been here last time year ago and now rally make me angry, 5 per day? Huh really cool. And I search for what is it for 20-30min where in FAQ it is? Huh I go to do something different because this website make me *** grr...

It's so people won't leech scans, which was a major problem with the last version of MT. People would just level up quickly, leach and never participate again. If it makes you angry, I guess it's because you can't leach any more. There are free downloads, and then you can use your credits to download things. It's not really that big of a deal. Favorite the images, get them later and download what you really need right away. Or use your credits. That's why you have them, after all.

f

Still a work in progress (and you'll see why in a second). I've been playing around with the grunge, but right now, I think it looks like crap. I'm calling it quits for the night (and ignore how Misa looks now... that's just in the middle of playing with layer properties again).

Click for the updated version.

Any suggestions would be helpful, but keep in mind that this is nowhere near finished (even after 8 layers to get it to still look like crap... grungy crap, but crap all the same). Well, at least there's some kind of progress happening, anyway. -_-

I'm submitting some of my scans of the scenery of Magna Carta: Crimson Stigmata from an artbook. They are from the game, but the illustrations weren't done by Hyung-Tae Kim. I've put the correct artist in the description, but is there any way to change the copyright? The copyright should be to In-Jung Jang, as noted in the credits of my artbook.

Also, the CG character designs from Magna Carta were done by Eun-Kyung Lee. These probably shouldn't be listed as being copyrighted to Hyung-Tae Kim either.

Here's a list of the artists and their contributions to the game:

Hyung-Tae Kim: Character Design
Eun-Kyung Lee: CG Character Design
In-Jung Jang: Landscape/Concept Design
Kyung-Jin Lee: Monster Design
Keun-Hwa Huh: SD Character Design

There aren't any of the SD character scans posted, but I just thought I'd make a note of it. I submitted them once because they're neat to look at, but you can't make a wallpaper out of them unless I scanned each character individually (which I might at a later date), so those aren't on the site right now (at least to my knowledge).

Thoughts/feedback, anyone?

f

They sound pretty awesome. Wish they weren't on the other side of the country. Thanks for the tip.

f

Quote by flyindreamsThe background looks really really rough and pixelated... and Misa's not blending in with it despite the overlays. If the grunge work is what you're going for I'd suggest overlaying some softer textures or using grunge brushes, because right now the overall effect feels kinda low quality...

That's what I get the more I look at it, but I'm not sure where to go with it from there. I've never done grunge, so obviously I'm not very good at it yet. As for the background, it's supposed to look rough, but not in a bad way. I'm not sure how to get Misa to really blend in, but I'll just have to play around with her some more. Thanks.

f

Well, I decided to deviate from my normal (and quite old, if you check my MT gallery) wallpaper style and try something new. I'm really just not sure how well it's working, so I figured I'd pop by here for some honest critiques. This is a complete and total work in progress. I'm still messing with settings, backgrounds, etc etc etc. Feel free to be as honest as you want, all comments and crits will be considered as I continue to work on this wallpaper.

Let me just say this: Extraction with this image is a pain. Magnetic lasso always flips out on me, so I did it by hand with the pen tool. I'm going to try it again with the magnetic lasso for smoother edges when I make the finished wall, so no need to comment on that, please. Sadly, extraction has never been my forte.

This is a huge wall, so I'm only going to post a link. I don't want to size it down, and it's too big to upload anyplace that will give me a thumbnail for it. I'm lazy, please kick me. Anyway, here goes, and thanks in advance for any suggestions and constructive criticism:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v519/souldrop/misa.jpg

The full-size is posted here, but it would totally wreck the site's layout if I posted it, so please click the link below.

Okay, so I've gotten tired of staring at the nasty default layout for the Yaoi group. As most of you may or may not know, I'm totally hopeless when it comes to skinning. So, here's your chance to make the Yaoi group prettier! There aren't many rules, but please abide by them:

Rules

1. The layout must be from a yaoi series. Don't put anything explicit in it, that should just be common sense. A kiss isn't explicit. A little groping isn't explicit. Anything more is. You're all intelligent people. You should be able to figure this one out.

2. Have your submission in within a month. I realize that skinning on MT doesn't allow for you to just post a skin. So code your skin in a text file (please upload your images somewhere, I don't have time nor space to do it all with everyone's) and email it to [url=mailto:disoriented.blue@gmail.com]Lia[(...) If something's wrong with it, I'll let you know.

3. I'm going to be the one judging what skin the site will use. I'll be partial about it, and I might even rotate between skins so everyone gets a chance. I'll most likely put up a little "voting" post if I get stuck between which to use, so you guys could help me decide too.

That's it for rules. I don't know what to make for prizes yet. Umm... if you have a web site, you'll get a permanent link to it on the Yaoi page, and your MT page will be linked there too. Suggestions for prizes are welcome, but I do have a lot of other things to do, so I'm not sure how much time I'll have to make prizes and such. Just keep that in mind when making your prize suggestions, please!

Edit: Actually, I got an email from a member that got me thinking. The prize is a translated (in English) yaoi manga of your choice. It's on me. :)
